Advertising sketch created for a promotional campaign for the summer season ("Campaigne bains de Mer") for the Palais de la Nouveautè stores. [Bibliography: cfr. Arturo Carlo Quintavalle, «Sepo», Milan, Feltrinelli, 1980: pag. 88].
"Sepo's training took place at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. On March 20, 1914, in the Hotel Baglioni in Bologna, s' inaugurates the exhibition of the young Bolognese futurists Severo Pozzati, Giorgio Morandi, Osvaldo Licini, Giacomo Vespignani, Mario Bacchelli. At this exhibition, inaugurated by Marinetti, Boccioni and Carrà, he exhibits synthetic sculptures. In 1917 he begins working for the Maga agency in Bologna. (...) In 1920 he moved to Paris dedicating himself exclusively to advertising graphics; in this sector, from 1923, he adopted the pseudonym of Sepo (...). In a short time he developed a vast poster business which earned him many awards and, among other things, the esteem and friendship of Severini and Picasso [Sepo will sign some of the most famous post-cubist posters produced for Doprland in Paris, Publivox in Geneva and for Studio Idea he directed until 1957] His billions of billboards , between the end of the 1920s and the beginning of the 1930s, show clear influences from the works of the Abstraction et Création group, from Deperian graphics and certain pictorial solutions by Prampolini.
