Specialist Notes

Original edition. The film, inspired by the book by Aldo De Jaco "The city rises: the four days of Naples in 1956", was produced by Goffredo Lombardo and was nominated for an Oscar in 1962 as best foreign film and for screenplay. In the film Nanni Loy describes the popular revolt that broke out spontaneously in Naples following the shooting of some Italian sailors on 28 September 1943 & nbsp; and that in four days he defeated and put the Germans to flight from the city before the arrival of the allies. The film is a choral one and mixes single episodes and popular characters protagonists of the revolt. Among the performers: Raffaele Barbato, Charles Belmont, Luigi De Filippo, Aldo Giuffrè, Lea Massari, Jean Sorel, Gian Maria Volontè.
