GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Jaguar XK150 represents the latest evolution of the famous XK series, one of the most iconic families of sports cars in Jaguar Cars' history. Introduced in 1957 as the successor to the XK140, the XK150 introduced numerous technical and stylistic improvements while retaining the elegant and sporty character typical of post-war British grand tourers. The FHC (Fixed Head Coupé) acronym identifies the closed-top version, particularly appreciated for its comfort and refinement, as well as its sleek, harmonious lines. The design retained the classic proportions of the XK series: a very long bonnet, set-back cockpit and rounded fenders, but with a larger glass surface and an overall more modern layout. It was powered by a 3.4- or 3.8-litre twin-cam inline-6 engine, derived from Jaguar's racing experience at Le Mans. In the standard version it delivered around 190 hp, while the more powerful variants (SE and “S”) could exceed 210–250 hp. Performance was remarkable for the time: top speed over 200 km/h acceleration 0-100 km/h in around 8–9 seconds excellent high-speed stability. From a technical point of view, the XK150 introduced important innovations compared to previous XKs: four-wheel disc brakes (a first for a production GT) more precise steering and improved chassis, more comfortable and refined cabin, one-piece panoramic windscreen. The XK150 was produced between 1957 and 1961 in approximately: 9,382 examples in total across all versions, of which approximately 4,445 examples of the Fixed Head Coupé (FHC) version were built. It is therefore a relatively rare version.

LOT DESCRIPTION

This XK, which comes in a classic Gunmetal Silver Metallic with a red interior, is powered by a 3.8L engine with a higher compression ratio of 9:1, which is more powerful and rare than the more common 3.4L. It was completely restored a few years ago and has rarely been used since, except for historic events. However, this model is also suitable for long journeys thanks to its comfort. It's surprising how much a 1960s Grand Tourer like this is at home even on today's highways.
