Specialist Notes
Justin devoted himself to extrapolating from the Historiae Philippicae of Pompey Trogus, a Roman writer of the Augustan period, what he considered worthy of note and useful for reading and moral education. More interesting for the anecdotal part than for the historical one, the book had a very wide diffusion in late Roman times.
