Information
Europa
length 125 cm.
Octagonal, rifled barrel, provided with a precision foresight and an adjustable rear sight, 10.6 mm cal. at the nozzle. Clean bore, visible rifling. Frame with Martini-type tilting block mechanism. The frame featuring finely punched floral motifs, frames and nets. The surface with remains of the old casehardening. The bolt cover with remains of the old blueing. Working mechanism. Trigger, set trigger and adjustment screw. Butt and fore-end of walnut wood. The first with cartouche with checkered finishing, on which a floral motif in relief stands out at the centre. The butt is richly carved: the right side of the butt stock with beautiful frieze of intertwined floral spirals, on which a cartouche stands out (it originally housed a plate, now missing) and a cherub, all on a granulated background. The left side of the butt stock with a wide, smooth cheek-piece edged by carved friezes echoing the theme of the opposite side. The cocking lever and the butt-plate are both punched with the same decorative motifs as the other elements. Of remarkable quality, particularly due to the finely executed decorations.
