Round, rifled, 58 cal. barrel (replaced?), marked on one side with a star mark, with octagonal breech with foresight and foldaway rear sight with two sight leaves, adjustable to three heights (14.6 mm. cal. at the nozzle). Visible rifling, bore needs cleaning. The base of the percussion without the eagle mark. Lock plate dated "1862" (?), eagle emblem and remains of "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" inscription. Cock of the type 1863. Working mechanism. Walnut, full stock without visible stamps. Iron mounts, "U" marked bands. Butt plate marked "US". Missing ramrod.
