A rare Springfield 1861 musket with Snider conversion, Third quarter of the 19th Century

length 142,8 cm.
Round, rifled barrel (the bore needs cleaning, partially visible rifling), provided with foresight and foldaway and adjustable rear sight. 14.8 mm cal. at the nozzle (probably for the .577 Snider). Snider-type folding bolt, with Tughra mark and five-pointed star mark. Remains of other marks also present on the breech. The Poilvache system does not have the breech lock. Forward spring lock with working mechanism; the lock plate is marked "U.S. SPRINGFIELD" with traces of the eagle emblem and date "1861". The receiver featuring visible signs of wear. Iron mounts, missing ramrod. Pitting, signs of use and time.
