In 4 °. & Nbsp; Frontispiece within an ornate woodcut frame, historiated initials, two holes with a gap in the upper internal margin of the frontispiece that do not affect the text on the reverse, sporadic slight reddening, some small halo, & nbsp; woodworm work at the edge of N3-N8 with loss of text at N7, missing the last two issues & nbsp; 2N-2P⁸ with the index, coeval binding in marbled cardboard, author and title within a paper insert on the spine, slight defects.

Beautiful Venetian edition printed in italics, translated by the doctor Jean Ruelle (1474-1537) containing the Stirpium differentiae ex Dioscorides secundum locos communes by the doctor and botanist Benoît & nbsp; Tixier. & nbsp; The work, divided into 5 books, describes all those animal, vegetable and mineral substances considered responsible for producing an effect on the human body: aromatic substances, plants, ointments, oils, animal substances, vegetables, cereals, legumes , roots, herbs, wines and minerals.
Dante includes Dioscorides & nbsp; in the Divine Comedy (Inferno IV 139-140) among the great spirits of Limbo: the right recognition to the oldest and most prestigious author of a well-known and appreciated treatise on pharmacology during the Middle Ages. & nbsp; The work exerted great influence & nbsp; in the pharmaceutical and medical field both in the East and in the West for about fifteen centuries, so much so that it is considered a fundamental reference text of pharmacology.
