Diego Milito is one of the most beloved and celebrated figures in Genoa's recent history. In his first season at Genoa (January-June 2004), in Serie B, he scored 12 goals in 20 games. This experience ended when the sporting justice system condemned Genoa to Serie C1 for sporting misconduct. The Argentine then moved to Real Zaragoza. After three years in Spain, Milito made a sensational return to Genoa in the summer of 2008. It was a historic season: in 31 Serie A appearances, Milito scored 24 goals. In total, Milito made 90 appearances for Genoa, scoring 57 goals.
