Autographed card of Lothar Matthäus wearing an Inter Milan jersey, published by Panini for the Chronicles Contenders Serie A Soccer A 2022/2023 series. Limited to 299 copies. Matthäus arrived in Milan in the summer of 1988, acquired from Bayern Munich, along with compatriot Andreas Brehme. In his first season, 1988-1989, he was the lynchpin of Giovanni Trapattoni's Inter Milan, which won the Scudetto, setting a then-record number of points for the 18-team Serie A. In 1990, after winning the World Cup with Germany, Matthäus was awarded the Ballon d'Or. In the 1990-1991 season, as team captain, he led the Nerazzurri to victory in the UEFA Cup, defeating Roma in the final. Matthäus made 153 appearances and scored 53 goals in all competitions for Inter.
