Rome, Carlo Bestetti Art Editions, 1972. Volume of pp. 295 loose with 24 full-page lithographic illustrations accompanying the text, produced in total in 525 numbered copies signed by the Author of which only 99 contain, such as the present which is ex n ° 59/99, an original color lithograph, 40 x 30 cm (sheet size), signed in pencil on the lower right. Original hardcover cover. Giorgio de Chirico's dedication to Fabrizio Clerici on the front page: “To Fabrizio Clerici, a longtime friend. With great respect for his work and sympathy. Giorgio de Chirico". In the attached lithograph another dedication by de Chirico to Clerici: “to Fabrizio Clerici, very cordially Giorgio de Chirico”; joined The Apocalypse, 1941, lithograph on Japon paper, 36 x 28.2 cm. probably unique.
Together in the lot other 26 editions by various authors, all with dedications to Fabrizio Clerici, among which a rare edition of Siné [Maurice Sinet], Livre d'Images par Siné , from 1953, 44 pages without typographical notes because probably a pirate edition, with 20 erotic drawings, copy n.256 on Japon Rose with a delicate drawing / dedication to Clerici at the beginning of the volume, and a valuable edition of an artist's book, Torquato Tasso, Aminta , De Luca, Rome, 1968, illustrated by Riccardo Tommasi Ferroni.
Specialist Notes
Valuable set of editions with a dedication to Clerici, among which the rare and sought-after work by De Chirico, Hebdomeros , stands out. Also very rare is the sheet of the Apocalypse, dedicated by Giorgio de Chirico to Fabrizio Clerici: “a lot of cordiality to Fabrizio Clerici / Giorgio de Chirico”. The sheet (with beards on the left side) is part of the The Apocalypse series, but is not included in the general catalog of graphics by de Chirco edizioni Bora. Probably it is a gift from de Chirico to Clerici during the drafting of the lithographic series; In fact, Clerici was in close contact with Fornasetti, Carrieri and the Edizioni della Chimera. This is an unknown variant of folio 119 (cat. Bora, p. 180) "... and there was a great war in the sky ...", 1941.
