Information
dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Made of iron, nade-kaku-gata, taka-bori, taka-zogan in copper and gold, katakiri-bori, kogai hitsu-ana with silver ategane, sekigane in copper. The front part with carp in relief swimming in water, behind maple sheet on water. Under the nakago-ana two udenuki-ana. Mei: Shiho hoyen and with kakihan. Uchi-gaeshi-mimi (0.48 cm). Last Edo period, around 1870. The two udenuki-ana served to accommodate a 32 cm long rope, the udenuki, which was fixed on the wrist to prevent the blade from accidentally falling.Provenance: F. J.
