dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Made of iron, nade-kaku-gata, iroe-taka-zogan in gold, silver, copper and shibuichi on an ishime background. Fine relief decorations with various fish, shellfish and lobster. Mei: Shiho Sadamoto and with kakihan. Ushi-gaeschi-mimi. Late Edo period, third quarter of the 19th century. This beautiful tsuba was not created to be used on katana or wakizashi, but meant as precious gift. Illustrated and described in Japanese, English and German in 'Tsuba' by Günther Heckmann, H.U.B. Verlag Nürtingen, 1995. No. T134. dimensions 8.2 x 8 x 0.4 cm.
