Damask barrels with remains of old browning, 17.4 mm cal. at the nozzle. Clean bores with light signs of use inside. Rib marked “JOSEPH MANTON HANOVER SQUARE LONDON”, serial “90xx”. Marks of the London test bench on the lower side. One barrel with an external scratch. Tang engraved with scrolls and rocaille motifs. Forward spring lock marked “JOSEPH MANTON PATENT”, engraved with floral motifs. Working mechanisms. Half stock of walnut wood with checkered grip. Featuring a silver-coloured metal shield with monogram on the back. Iron mounts with traces of blueing (earlier?), finely engraved. The trigger guard depicts a classical scene of pheasants in a woodland, and with serial number matching the barrels. Butt plate with small pitting. In a wooden case (probably relined), complete with various accessories and key.
