The bores all in good condition with slight signs of use and age; only one shows small defects, possibly resulting from use. Ribs marked “JOSEPH MANTON & SON 6 HOLLES STREET CAVENDISG SQUARE LONDON”. The breech blocks with traces of blueing and finely engraved with scrollwork, also repeated on the tang. On the underside of the barrels, London proof marks and consecutive serial numbers “105xx”. Forward spring locks, all signed “JOSEPH MANTON & SON”, with border engraving and decorated with pheasants or partridges. Working mechanisms. Walnut stocks with chequered grip and fore-end. Both bearing on the grip a silver-plated escutcheon with monogram. Iron mounts. Some elements with traces of old blueing. Trigger guards engraved with pointers and bearing serial numbers corresponding to those on the barrels. Engraved with racemes. Some pitting to the butt plates. Only one double-barrelled shotgun provided with its ramrod.
