USA
length 124,3 cm.
Round, rifled, 30" barrel, with foresight and a foldaway, adjustable rear sight (likely replaced at a later date and with an unrelated slide; one of the two retaining screws is missing). The two-line back mark is still fairly legible; missing the caliber inscription on the breech. Bore with visible rifling, pitting, and encrustations inside. 11 mm cal. at the nozzle. Iron frame with a slide guide for the back cover in one piece with the frame. Brass elevator block, marked “44 Cal.” (re-engraved mark?). Back tang with remains of model mark; the lower one with the serial number “174xxxA”. Walnut butt and fore-end, with signs of use and time. A wooden plate removed from the butt stock. Iron mounts. Butt plate with a small flap. Pitting, signs of use and time. Traces of browning, possibly some replacements. Back tang with holes to mount a peep sight.
