Gianluigi Buffon, simply “Gigi” to fans around the world, is an iconic figure who has transcended the role of goalkeeper to become a symbol of longevity, excellence, and passion in football. Born in Carrara on January 28, 1978, his 28-year career established him as one of the greatest number ones of all time. He moved to Juventus in 2021, where he set numerous records and won an impressive number of trophies, including: 10 Scudetti (an all-time record for a player); 6 Coppa Italia (shared record); and 7 Supercoppa Italiane (an all-time record). In addition to his team trophies, Buffon has collected a long list of individual awards, including numerous accolades as the best goalkeeper in Serie A and internationally. In 2003 he was awarded the European Footballer of the Year award, the only goalkeeper to receive this honor.
