Her career took off after being spotted at a football game. She appeared on the cover of Playboy for the first time in October 1989 and has appeared on the magazine's cover 14 times, more than any other model. Her most famous role was as lifeguard CJ Parker on the popular TV series Baywatch, which she starred in from 1992 to 1997. Her iconic red swimsuit and athletic, running figure became a symbol of the aesthetic and sensuality of the 1990s. In 2024, she received critical acclaim and her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for her performance in The Last Showgirl.
