Autographed card of Matthias Sammer wearing an Inter Milan jersey, published by Panini for the 2023/2024 Select Serie A Soccer A series. Matthias Sammer, a future Ballon d'Or winner and icon of German football, had a very brief and unfortunate stint with Inter in the 1992-1993 season. He made his Serie A debut on September 6, 1992 (Udinese-Inter 2-1). He played as a midfielder and wore the number 10. In total, he made 11 league appearances, scoring four goals, and making one appearance in the Coppa Italia. The experience was a failure. Sammer failed to integrate and the environment rejected him, leading him to leave the club after only a few months (from August 1992 to December 1992). He left Milan in January 1993 to move to Borussia Dortmund, the team with which he achieved his breakthrough and won the Champions League and the Ballon d'Or (1996).
