Information
Original Magnus art from Satanik #116, titled “Kamalo.” Size 23x18 cm. Satanik #116 (published in 1969) represents one of the absolute pinnacles of the collaboration between writer Max Bunker (Luciano Secchi) and the genius artist Magnus (Roberto Raviola). During this period, Magnus was at the height of his expressive maturity. His style moved away from the more essential lines of his early work to become dense, baroque, and deeply atmospheric. Magnus manages to imbue both the protagonist, Marny Bannister, and the exotic, decadent settings with a disturbing physicality. Issue #116 is often cited by collectors for the visual power of its cover and the quality of the interior art. It is a perfect example of how "black comics," born as a popular genre and often criticized by critics of the time, reached extraordinary artistic heights thanks to Magnus's visionary talent.
