Original cel (rodovreto) from the first season of The Smurfs, specifically from the fourth episode, "St. Smurf and the Dragon." Note that the background is painted, not a photocopy as is often found on Smurfs cels. Dimensions: 33x26 cm, framed. The Smurfs animated series produced by Hanna-Barbera, which debuted in the United States on September 12, 1981, on NBC, represents the peak of global expansion for the creatures created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo. Born from the intuition of Fred Silverman (then president of NBC), who noticed the characters' potential after seeing one of his daughter's dolls, the series ran for nine seasons (until 1989), for a total of 272 episodes. It has been translated into over 40 languages. It arrived in the early 1980s (initially on local networks and then on Canale 5), accompanied by the famous theme songs by Cristina D'Avena, which contributed significantly to the national "Puffomania".
