One of the most striking features of Russian author Alexander Rodchenko's photographs is the search for unusual framing, for shots from bottom to top or diagonally so as to occupy the space of the frame and at the same time surprise observers who perhaps expected a more traditional and reassuring view. He certainly was not, and his strong connection with futurism remained even when, put on the sidelines of the dominant regime aesthetic, he decided to devote himself totally to sports photography and architectural subjects.
