Worriedabout the spread of rumors that spoke of an imminent cessation of theproduction of his beloved Schoeller rigid cartoons (which later occurred onlyin part), Crepax buys them up and changes the way of making his new stories bydrawing two pages for each board (used horizontally) instead of one(vertically). At the same time, the stories of Valentina, thanks to the growingpessimism of the author, in this period veer towards a greater introspection ofthe protagonist who loses her adventurous charge and tends to withdraw intoherself to mull over the time that passes. It is no coincidence that this storyis called Nostalgia and tells of a betrayal of Valentina with incredible clarityand Crepax's ability to penetrate the soul and represent the disturbances ofits protagonist. However, his mastery in the cinematographic construction ofsequences remains unchanged.
