Straight, single-and-false-edged blade, wide central fuller doubling towards the weak; engraved and gilded with the motto "VIVA PIO IX" and "VIVA L'ITALIA" between trophies and floral motifs at the first part; the back decorated with leaves. Brass hilt with valve provided with two large fretworks, the guard pierced with drops; knot pommel. Solid brass grip worked in two pieces, with checkered surface. Iron scabbard provided with two rings on gilt brass fasces.
