GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The 1968 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 “Biscione” is one of the most iconic Italian sports sedans of the 1960s, a symbol of the balance between elegance, technology, and performance that characterized Alfa Romeo vehicles of the period. The nickname “Biscione” derives from the historic emblem of the Milanese brand, often highlighted in marketing communications of the time. The Giulia 1600 belonged to the first generation of the Giulia series (Tipo 105), known for its square yet aerodynamically advanced tail design. Despite its understated family sedan appearance, it offered superior performance to most competitors of the time. It was equipped with the classic 1,570 cc twin-cam aluminum engine, fed by carburetors, capable of approximately 92-98 hp depending on the version. Thanks to its low weight (around 1,000 kg) and rear-wheel drive, the car reached a top speed of approximately 170 km/h, proving to be very brilliant for its class. From a technical point of view, the Giulia introduced cutting-edge solutions for the time: a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, disc brakes on all four wheels, and optimal weight distribution for a sporty yet comfortable ride.
