Specialist Notes
The Darracq firm was one of the great brands of the early 20th century and left a lasting mark on European automotive heritage. The first RRX models were made with 85 x 100mm (2,270 cc) engines, though 2,4-litre units were fitted to production cars. This example has been in the same family since new, and carries three-door four-seater double phaeton coachwork with hood and two-piece windscreen. It comes complete with acetylene headlamps, and oil side and tail lamps; a spare tyre and rim are carried on the off-side running board. Purchased at Christie's auction in Monza in 1974. The car is in good and original mechanical condition. Coachwork and interior have recently been reconditioned. This car has been standing still for more than 30 years with the need for consequent restorations.
