II. 6 tables of portraits, light browning, slightly more intense on a few papers, some slight flowering and small stains, coeval binding in mottled calfskin, title and tome number within 5-pin spine inserts with embossed gold friezes, small lacks on the headphones , slight defects. Paper bookplate for counterplates.

First edition. With a large Carte générale de l'Empire de Russie (drawn by Clermont and engraved by P. Tardieu), which in the Alertissement L. defines "carte exacte et la remière faite d'après les découvertes les plus récentes et les plus dignes de foi ", another card dedicated to the Destruction de la Fleotte Ottomanne dans le port de Tzeme par l'Escadre Russe sous les ordre de S. E. le comte Orlof la nuit du 7 Juillet 1770 and seven portraits drawn by Chevalier. Parallel to the publication of the first two volumes of the Histoire physique, morale, civile et politique de la Russie moderne, the same publishers printed a Histoire de la Russie ancienne in 3 vols. (1783-84).
