Colonia, Pietro Martello, 1721. In 2°. Antiporta con stemma mediceo incisa da Andreas Matthaus Wolfgang, ritratto dell'autore inciso da Johann Andreas Pfeffel, frontespizio stampato in rosso e nero, una tavola con albero genealogico della famiglia de' Medici, capilettera e fregi xilografici, carte in barbe, bruniture, piccoli fori di tarlo al margine bianco inferiore di poche carte, legatura coeva in cartonato, dorso liscio con autore e titolo manoscritti, depositi di polvere. Ex libris nobiliare al contropiatto.

Prima edizione, prima tiratura, contraddistinta dal racconto dell'episodio della scelleratezza di Pier Luigi Farnese verso il vescovo di Fano a p. 639 e stampata in realtà ad Augusta da Paolo Kuhzio (cfr. Parenti, Dizionario dei luoghi di stampa falsi, inventati o supposti, 56), e a cura di Francesco Settimanni. Varchi scrisse questa importante storia di Firenze nell’arco di vent’anni, su incarico di Cosimo I.
