As indicated in the relevant entry in the Catalog of Italian Libraries, this copy was published after 1813 (the text contains a reference to that date; in fact, on p. 6, center column, of the preface by the lawyer Fea, discoveries are cited as having occurred on April 30, 1813) and was printed by the Royal Calcography of Rome. It was established in 1738 by Clement XII under the name of Roman Camerale Calcografia, through the purchase of the rich collection of copperplate engravings and prints formed by the De Rossi family. When Rome was proclaimed the capital of the Kingdom of Italy, the Camerale Calcografia became Royal and then National. The title page of this copy bears two embossed stamps: the small one from the Camerale Calcografia and the slightly larger one from the Royal Calcografia, which must have put this copy up for sale after 1870, having already been printed by the Camerale Calcografia. Pietro Santi Bartoli (1635-1700) was an Italian painter, antiquarian, engraver, and etcher, and the Pope's antiques dealer. Alfonso Chacón (Italianized as Alfonso Ciacconio, c. 1540-1599) was a Spanish historian, philologist, Dominican priest, and scholar. Giovan Pietro Bellori (1613-1696) was an Italian writer, antiquarian, and art historian. Carlo Fea (1753-1836) was an Italian lawyer, archaeologist, and art collector. Giovanni Giacomo De Rossi (1627-1691) was an Italian printer and publisher.
