Specialist Notes
For Maria Montessori, order was the essential prerequisite for child development, as an organized environment fosters the formation of internal order. Discipline, far from being imposed through authority, should emerge spontaneously from the child's autonomy, concentration, and sense of responsibility. This concept, which the educator called "active discipline," represents one of the cornerstones of the Montessori method.
"Push for discipline and strict observance to achieve:
1 - the freedom of the child
2 - one's freedom.
If there is no order there are no phenomena,
therefore we must start from the order and not from the phenomena"
