Torch of the XIV Edition of the Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948
It has the words " Olympia to London With thanks from the bearer XIVth Olympiad 1948 " embossed around the brazier.

Made of cast aluminium, designed by Ralph Lavers, and produced by EMI Factories Ltd, High Dury Alloys Ltd. (same design and model as the torch for the 1956 Cortina Winter Olympics, and the 1956 Melbourne and Stockholm Summer Olympics)

The torch has a housing in the center of the upper cup that acts as an internal brazier, where interchangeable ignition wicks are inserted for a duration of 15 minutes (wicks not supplied)
It measures approximately 470mm in height. It shows signs of use from the actual run of one of the torchbearers, but is otherwise in excellent condition. There are no details about the torchbearer who used it.
