Information

310x310mm
Official brochure of the ocean liner SS NORMANDIE of the FRENCH LINE (Compagnie Générale Transatlantique) , distributed by the travel agency Sharp's Travel Service of Toronto (Canada).

The brochure features the famous Art Deco graphic design adopted by the CGT to promote the Normandie, considered the most beautiful ocean liner ever built. The promotional material illustrates the ship's luxurious interiors, transatlantic routes, and onboard amenities.

Original from the 1930s, measures approximately 310x310mm, in good condition

The SS Normandie (79,280 tons) was launched in 1932 in Saint-Nazaire and made her maiden voyage in May 1935. Winner of the Blue Riband with the New York-Southampton crossing in 3 days, 22 hours and 7 minutes, the Normandie is considered the absolute masterpiece of Art Deco naval design: her interiors, designed by the best French artists of the time (René Lalique for the crystal, Jean Dunand for the dining room), were of incomparable elegance.
The ship was immobilized in New York upon the US entry into the war in 1941 and destroyed by fire in 1942.
