Police identification bracelet in Rome , declared an " Open City " in the summer-autumn of 1943.

Made of heavy, bright red fabric, with a yellow diagonal band running through the centre; the writing " CITTA' APERTA di ROMA " is printed in black on the upper red band, while the yellow band
The word " POLICE " stands out in large print in bright red at the center. Circular authentication stamps from the Nazi Reich (eagle) and the Open City Command of Rome, with serial number 0002033 attributing the soldier.

It measures approximately 90x260mm, in excellent condition

The term "open city" designates, according to international conventions of war (Hague Regulations, 1907), a city declared undefended which renounces any military resistance in order to preserve the civilian population and
cultural heritage from the bombings. Rome was declared an "Open City" by the Badoglio government on August 14, 1943, after the Allied bombings of July 19 and August 13, 1943, had also hit civilian areas of the city. The declaration
