Tubingae, sumptibus Philiberti Brunnj, 1646. In 2°. Front. Printed in red and black, woodcut vignette with a Samaritan woman drawing water from a well and offering it to Christ, woodcut initials and decorations, text framed by a typographical frame, light browning and foxing, contemporary hard parchment binding, handwritten title on the spine.
Specialist Notes
Johann Jakob Heinlin (1588–1660) was a Lutheran theologian and mathematician from Württemberg, educated in Tübingen, where he earned his master's degree and developed an interest in mathematics and astronomy. He held numerous ecclesiastical offices and was active as a preacher and teacher, maintaining relationships with the scientific and intellectual circles of his time. In 1654, he became abbot of Bebenhausen and general superintendent of the Duchy of Württemberg, a position he held until his death.
