Specialist Notes
First edition of the biographical work written by Spino (1513-1585), a professor of rhetoric and history, poet, and biographer from Bergamo. This rare and fascinating 16th-century biography of Bartolomeo Colleoni, a celebrated mercenary captain in the service of the Venetian Republic, retraces the military exploits and political virtues of the Bergamo-born condottiero, offering an exemplary portrait of him within the context of Renaissance historiography and remains one of the principal ancient sources on Colleoni.
