Padoa (In Padua: for Lorenzo Pasquati, 1568). In 4°. Copper-engraved allegorical title page, indented initials, decorated headpieces, damp stains on the first leaves, otherwise an excellent, fresh and genuine copy, 18th-century full parchment binding with red title on the spine and sprayed edges, handwritten ownership note on the title page.
Specialist Notes
A beautiful and rare collection of verses in honor of Geronima Colonna d'Aragona, daughter of Ascanio Colonna and Giovanna d'Aragona, assembled by the nobleman Ottavio Sammarco. A scholar and noblewoman, she was an astrologer and poet; she lived in the second half of the 16th century.
