The anonymous author proposes it as an expanded version of the pamphlet published in 1774 by Joseph Marie Brossais du Perray, violently attacking the Bastille: "De tous les épouvantails que la tyrannie a imaginés, les plus redoutable sans doute pour les individus que le hasard a fait naitre français, c'est la Bastille".
