Information
The 1963 Fiat Abarth 850 TC is one of the most famous sports cars created by Carlo Abarth based on the Fiat 600. Designed for touring competition, this small yet aggressive car perfectly embodied the Abarth philosophy: achieving high performance from mass-produced models, thanks to targeted modifications to the engine, suspension, and cooling. The model was equipped with a rear-mounted, 847 cc four-cylinder engine, significantly modified from the original Fiat unit, capable of developing approximately 52 hp, a remarkable power output for such a compact and lightweight car. Characteristic features included the raised bonnet to improve cooling and the distinctive sound of the Abarth exhausts. Production was relatively limited and almost artisanal: over the years, several thousand units were built, many of which were destined for competition. The 850 TC was sold primarily in Italy and several European markets, where it became a key player in touring car racing in the 1960s. Today it is considered one of the most iconic historic Abarths, a symbol of the golden age of small, custom-built sedans capable of astonishing performance on the track and on the road.
