Specialist Notes
In 1960 Lancia entered a deep economic crisis and was purchased by Carlo Pesenti, a Bergamo industrialist. He entrusts the engineer Fessia, former Fiat project manager, as the technical director. In 1962, the Lancia Flavia was presented, and was the first true large-production Italian car with front-wheel drive. It was offered in a sedan version with a 1500 engine, but the following year the 1800 coupé version arrived, designed by Pinfarina, like our example. A spider version of Vignale followed. Our car, chassis 6287, was registered in Pavia on 4 January 1964, but in 1965 it was re-registered in Varese, with the license plate it still wears today. It is in impeccable condition following a major bodywork restoration. The engine is preserved while the interior has been restored, and a Nardi steering wheel has been fitted. All the equipment is working. The example is characterized by the ASI Targa Oro.
