Information

230x250mm
Rare documentary album created and owned by Pier Giulio Breschi (nephew of Garibaldi's soldier Anton Giulio Barrili ) relating to the 1911 Rome International Exhibition , set up to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the unification of Italy.
The album contains a collection of approximately 65 original, previously unpublished black-and-white photographs and postcards (mostly relating to the event). Photographs include the PONTE DEL RISORGIMENTO bridge over the Tiber (the first reinforced concrete bridge in Italy), built for this historic event and designed by engineer Hennebique. Other photos show construction work in progress at the Exposition pavilions, historic and influential figures at the event, the FORO DELLE REGIONI (Regional Forum), designed by architect Piacentini, and much more. All are hand-captioned by Breschi.

Hardcover with the year 1911 stamped in gold leaf, pages mechanically bound with gilt screws
It measures approximately 230x250 mm, in excellent condition

The 1911 Rome International Exposition was an event of extraordinary importance: hosted in three different locations (Valle Giulia, Piazza d'Armi, and Trastevere), it celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of Italian unification and saw the participation of dozens of nations, with national pavilions that left a permanent mark on the Roman urban landscape (the Palazzo delle Belle Arti, now the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna, was built for that occasion).
