Information

fabric
122x181 cm
Rare example of the flag/banner of the ITALIAN SOCIALIST WORKERS PARTY
In red cotton, with early period logo used since the foundation of the PSLI.
Each part of the logo is made of separate fabric, then sewn onto the red cotton base. The logo is mirrored on both sides.
Three red cotton laces complete the banner, allowing it to be hung vertically.
It measures approximately 122 x 181 cm, and is in perfect condition.

On January 11, 1947, in Rome, after a meeting at Palazzo Barberini, the Italian Socialist Workers' Party was born, the first nucleus of what would officially become the Italian Democratic Socialist Party (PSDI) in 1952.
The three diagonal arrows (pointing upward and to the left) crossing the circle, before being used as the emblem of the Socialist International, had been adopted by the Iron Front of the German Social Democrats to erase or contrast the swastikas. They were subsequently used by the German SPD, the French socialists of the SFIO, and other political groups, until their adoption by the Socialist International. The same motif, with slightly reinterpreted graphics, became the symbol of the PSLI.
