Information
dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Iron hachi with 28 plates riveted with nails, 4 plates with gilt copper plaques fretwork with floral motifs, gilt copper tehen, mabizashi covered with gilt Kuwagata imprinted leather, 4-edged shikoro ko-manju blade lacquered with gold laced in kebiki style with orange silk ribbons, wide fukigaeshi also covered with imprinted leather featuring the large Tsuru Mon of the Mori Clan. The iron skull (Hachi) seems of an older time. During the Edo period (1615–1868), there was a conscious revival of medieval armor fashions, and this helmet fashioned in the thirteenth-century style, was certainly made to accompany an armor of medieval yoroi fashion. height 31 cm.
