Information
dating: 1980 circa provenance: Irak, Sabre with curved, single-edged blade with double groove near the back. White metal grip with curved pommel decorated in filigree. Scabbard also in white metal (silver?) decorated en suite and with two suspension rings with thin chain. Provenance: Interior Minister of the German Democratic Republic Friedrich Dickel. The sabre was a gift from Saddam Hussein during a reception of the Minister in Baghdad, (note in German stuck on the scabbard). length 67.5 cm.
