dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Made of iron, kawari-kaku-gata, maru-bori, depicting a group of intertwined carps. Mei: Suzuki Katsuhiro saku Suifu no ju. Late Edo period, 19th century. Suzuki Katsukta Dembei (1827-1886) was the first child of Hagiya Katsuhira, who had entered the Suzuki family after a marriage. He worked in Mito first and then, after the ban on carrying swords, in Tokyo.Illustrated and described in Japanese, English and German in 'Tsuba' by Günther Heckmann, H.U.B. Verlag Nürtingen, 1995.
