dating: i Period (1868-1912) provenance: Japan, In shakudo, tate-maru-gata, hira-zogan in shippo, gold and silver depicting cranes in flight above trees in gold. Sekigane in copper, both hitsu-ana with ategane. Mei: Tenkodo Hidekuni. Late Edo period, early Meiji, second half of the 19th century. The signature may be an ancient imitation.Illustrated and described in Japanese, English and German in 'Tsuba' by Günther Heckmann, H.U.B. Verlag Nürtingen, 1995.
