dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, A rare ferrule for a war banner with coat of arms (mon) for the identification of a daimyo. Made of wood, with three hollow sides with 'Maru-ni Taira-yotsume Mon' in relief on a granulated background. Lacquered and gilded (small missing parts). With a small remaining part of the wooden shaft, and with modern, metal stand. dimensions 27 x 26 cm.
