dating: late 18th Century provenance: Paris, Smooth, round, 14.5 mm cal. barrels with marks at the base, the rib marked 'SIMON PARIS RUE MAZARINE' and decorated with golden floral motifs, provided silver foresight with golden rays; engraved and sighted tang; flintlocks signed 'SIMON ARQUEBUSIER DU ROY BREVETE E DE MGR. COMTE D'ARTOIS PARIS'; wooden half stock sculpted with floral motifs; beautiful, silver mounts with high-and bas-relieved hunting trophies and floral motifs, the trigger guard with the owner's mark 'J. C. DORCHY', marks, at the back a leather-bound cushion. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod with iron cartridge extractor. Charles Simon is documented from 1765 to 1796, master gunsmith in 1765, he worked for Louis XVI and Charles X. 'Der Neue Stockel', Vol. II page 1172. length 121 cm.
