dating: machi Period (1392-1573) provenance: Japan, Nagasa (length 49,2 cm), shinogi zukuri iorimune; hada: mokume (sligthly visible); hamon: suguha nioi deki; boshi: suguha komaru; copper habaki. Nakago: ubu-ha maybe kurijiri yasuri kattesagari; mei signed and dated on both sides 'Bishu Osafune Tadamitsu Saku' and 'Bunmei go non achigatsu hi 1473' with a mekugi-ana. Fine koshirae, shakudo tsuba with fine cloud engravings partially copper-inlaid or gilded. Fuchi-kashira also in shakudo decorated with gold-inlaid floral motifs in bas-relief on a black background. Menuki with double Tokugawa mon. Grip covered with same, white silk tsuka. Fine, wooden, black lacquered saya decorated with gold floral motifs, provided with kozuka mei 'Minamoto Hiro Tsugo' decorated with a tiger and floral motifs, kogai decorated en suite. Supension rope. Interesting wakizashi with a blade in good condition but deserving professional cleaning. length 69.5 cm.
