length 99 cm.
Round, rifled, 22" barrel (six grooves), with foresight, remains of a three-line mark “SHARPS RIFLE / MANUFG. CO. / HARTFORD CONN.” and remains of the model inscription “NEW MODEL 1863”. 52 cal. at the nozzle. Missing foldaway rear sight. Frame with 1848 Sharps patent mark on the left side; on the right side, the 1859 Lawrence mark and the 1852 Sharps patent mark are still clearly visible (both on the lock plate). Working falling block bolt, with percussion. Upper tang with serial number “C,18xxx”. Walnut butt and fore-end with remains of military inspection stamps on the left side below the sling swivel. Iron mounts. The lever safety lock is missing.
