length 95 cm.
Slightly curved, single-and-false-edged blade, with central fuller that doubles towards the weak, the first part engraved with trophies, a crowned Savoy eagle and floral motifs, the base numbered "27" and the tang marked "S". Iron hilt with fretwork knuckle guard, decorated with floral motifs and a stylised lily. Long cap and checkered ebony grip with sectors (some missing parts). Iron scabbard with two suspension rings.

Specialist Notes

The Hussar Regiment of Piacenza was formed in 1859, during the Provisional Government, and subsequently joined the Italian army after unification. See a similar example in Calamandrei's "Storia dell'Arma Bianca Italiana" on page 410 with photo.
